Taken — Medicine Reminder Effective date: 2026-07-16 Version: 1.2
The short version
Taken stores your medication data on your device. We do not collect analytics, we do not track you, and your medication information never leaves your device automatically.
The only information that leaves your device is what you explicitly send us through the in-app Feedback tab. Feedback is opt-in — nothing is sent unless you type a message and tap send. See "Feedback you send us" below for what we receive.
Who we are
Taken is published by Hozameen LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"). If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at adam@takenwell.com.
What data Taken stores
Taken stores the following information on your device to provide its core functionality:
- Your display name
- The names, doses, and schedules of your medications
- Records of when you took, skipped, or missed each dose
- Your wake and sleep time preferences
- App settings (snooze duration, reminder intervals)
- A record that you accepted our End User License Agreement and this Privacy Policy, including the version and the date you accepted
Where your data is stored
All data is stored locally on your iPhone using an on-device database. Your data never leaves your device.
Taken does not use cloud storage, cloud sync, or any remote servers. The app works entirely offline.
What data we collect automatically
None. We do not collect any analytics, usage data, crash reports, telemetry, or device information automatically. Taken has no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking of any kind.
Feedback you send us
Taken has a Feedback tab that lets you send us a message, suggestion, or bug report. This is the only way information leaves your device, and it only happens when you type something and tap send.
When you use the Feedback tab, we receive:
- The message and title you typed
- The app version and build number
- Your device model (for example, iPhone 15) and iOS version
- If you choose to include them: your name and email address (optional — you can leave them blank)
If you choose the "Bug" feedback type, your submission also includes a diagnostic bundle with recent app events. Before the bundle is sent, we remove your medication names, dose amounts, and personal identifiers. The bundle contains anonymized IDs, event types, and timestamps that help us understand what the app was doing when something went wrong.
How feedback is used and stored. Feedback is transmitted over the internet to servers operated by Hozameen LLC, where it is retained so we can reproduce bugs, consider suggestions, and reply to you if you provided contact information. We use commercial cloud infrastructure providers to host these servers. We do not use feedback for advertising and we do not sell it to anyone. We retain feedback for as long as it is useful for supporting and improving Taken, and we may delete it at any time.
Reaching us outside the Feedback tab. For matters that are not bug reports, suggestions, or general comments — for example, a legal notice or a privacy-rights request — email us at adam@takenwell.com.
Third-party services
Taken relies on:
- Apple services on your device — iOS system services, including the AlarmKit alarm service that delivers your medication reminders. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Commercial cloud infrastructure providers that host the servers receiving your feedback submissions, as described in "Feedback you send us" above. These providers process the submission on our behalf under standard commercial terms and do not receive Taken data in any other circumstance.
Taken does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Permissions
Taken requests one permission:
- Alarm permission: Used to deliver medication reminders that are loud enough to hear, even when your phone is on silent or the screen is off. This permission is required for the app to function. Alarm data stays on your device.
Data sharing
We do not share your data with anyone. There is no data to share — we do not have access to it.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. You can delete individual medications, dose history, or your entire account from within the app. If you uninstall Taken or reset your device, your data is deleted with it. Because your data is stored only on your device, we cannot recover it for you.
Children's privacy
Taken is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Because Taken does not collect information from anyone, no data is collected from children either.
Your rights (California, EU, and other residents)
The only personal information we hold is the contents of any feedback you have submitted through the app (including any contact information you chose to include). If you have submitted feedback and want to exercise rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), or similar laws — for example, to access, correct, or delete what you sent us — email us at adam@takenwell.com with the details of your request. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Because Taken does not collect any information automatically, most data-subject rights have nothing to apply to unless you have submitted feedback.
Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Changes to this policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the new version on this page, update the "Effective date" and "Version" at the top, and, when appropriate, ask you to review and accept the updated policy inside the app. Your continued use of Taken after the effective date of an updated policy indicates your acceptance.
